In the open forum, Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda appreciated the data as an end user though he could not hide his disappointment that the increase of population was not that significant in Borongan.
Ms. Wilma A. Perante, regional director of PSA said the population growth in Eastern Samar and other parts of provinces in Region 8 slowed down from 2015 to 2020 due to out-migration.
The 2020 CPH is a nationwide government undertaking that involves the collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of data on population count, demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and barangay characteristics.
Eastern Samar is composed of 597 barangays with 22 municipalities and one city.
Present during the virtual conference are Chief Executives of different municipalities, Municipal Planning and Development Officers (MPDOs), PSA Eastern Samar employees, and members of the media. (NBQ/SDC/PIA-8/Eastern Samar)
