BORONGAN CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry – Small Business Corporation (DTI-SBC) in Eastern Samar granted P8.7-M loans to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in the province.

This fund is from the Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso – COVID-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (P3-CARES).
According to Ms. Ma. Joy R. Abobo, P3 provincial coordinator, as of June 10, a total of P8.7-M was granted to 77 P3-CARES loan beneficiaries.

Abobo said that of these 77 loan beneficiaries, 16 are from Borongan City, one (1) from Hernani, one (1) from Maydolong, seven (7) from San-Julian, eight (8) from Sulat, six (6) from Can-avid, and one (1) from Dolores. Another set of beneficiaries are 14 from Giporlos, four (4) from Guiuan, one (1) from Oras, one (1) from Arteche, one (1) from Jipapad, three (3) from Mercedes, two (2) from Salcedo, four (4) from Lawaan, five (5) from Balangiga, and two (2) from Quinapondan.

A businessman in Borongan City availed a loan amounting to P10,000 for her sari-sari store while a businessman in Mercedes availed a loan amounting to P2-M for his construction firm.

CARES program is a P1-B Enterprise Rehabilitation Financing (ERF) facility under the P3 to support MSEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
