The modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status in Borongan City has been extended for another week by Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda.

Agda signed Executive Order No. JIDCA-003-0621 last June 25 extending the MECQ status of the city until July 3.
The current quarantine status ended last Saturday (June 26).

The issuance was based to the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) of the City Health Office (CHO) that there is a new wave of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in the city.

“After the span of two weeks, the City Health Office and the CESU assessed that the infection rate of COVID-19 cases in the city had not declined yet,”Mayor Agda said.

“Upon careful deliberation and comprehensive assessment, the CHO has recommended that the MECQ status of Borongan be extended in order to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases,”he added.

Meantime, the city government inaugurated a new isolation facility last June 3 to address its COVID-19 surge.

The new isolation facility has 17 fully air-conditioned isolation room facility with each room has its toilets and bathrooms, sprinkler system and fire extinguisher. Each room also has an adjustable modern patient bed with sliding glass window and with two nurses stations and sterilizing room. (ROEL T. AMAZONA)
